This month’s dining adventure brought me to a new restaurant called Tap In Pub & Carvery, located at 2155 CityGate Lane in CityGate Centre in Chicago.
What made me choose this restaurant was the concept of golfing while I enjoyed some good food. As it begins turning cold outside, the Tap In Pub has a state-of-the-art high -definition golf simulator. You can choose from some of the best courses in the world and you feel like your right there. We chose to play Banff.
You can rent the golf simulator by the hour for $35. Club rentals are $12. But you can bring your own clubs. There are also leagues available, so your golf game does not have to hibernate for the winter!
As far as the food goes, we had the spinach artichoke dip. It was nicely cooked – not too hot – and the perfect temp. The dip was very cheesy and came sided with delicious crisp homemade pita chips.
For my main course, I had the BBQ Double, which is two patties, Applewood bacon, smoked Gouda cheese, house made BBQ sauce and caramelized onions on a pretzel roll. The burger was very juicy, cooked perfectly. The BBQ sauce was sweet and perfectly paired with the caramelized onions. Definitely would try this burger again.
My mom had the Thanksgiving Sliders which are three hand-carved turkey breasts minis with sage stuffing and cranberry jam on parker rolls. My mom said they were delicious and good comfort food for any cold day.
Brad had the flat iron steak sandwich – served open face on a toasted Hogie bun. He said the combination of the onions and blue cheese made it salty and sweet and that he definitely would be returning for this sandwich.
Tap In Pub has daily specials you can view at www.tapinpub.com. Their hours are 11AM to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 11AM to close on Friday and Saturday.
Next time it’s cold and rainy or even snowing and you’re wanting to golf… check out the Tap In Pub & Carvery and tell them Jack the Foodie sent ya!
