HD Golf™ Launches World’s First Automated Video Swing Analysis
Exciting New Product based on Jim McLean’s World Famous “8 Step Swing”
Ontario, Canada – November 29, 2011– Interactive Sports Technologies™ announces the launch of the World’s first automated video swing analysis module based on Jim McLean’s World Famous “8 Step Swing” teaching system. Integrated into High Definition Golf simulators, this system accurately measures every part of a golfer’s swing providing instant feedback while guiding them through the Jim McLean teaching system.
This ground breaking new addition to HD Golf simulators was designed by the scientists and engineers at High Definition Golf™ in cooperation with world top rated golf instructor Jim McLean. Jim McLean is well known for his research on the golf swing and the “8 Step Swing” video is the all time #1 golf instruction DVD in America. McLean’s “8 Step Swing” book was ranked by Sports Illustrated as one of the top golf instruction books of the 20th century (ranked #11).
The Jim McLean Golf Schools are the #1 golf schools in the United States and McLean has taught more than 100 PGA Tour, LPGA and Senior PGA Tour players. This unique, automated video swing analysis system allows golfers at any skill level to learn and train at their own pace. The “8 Step Swing” system will record and analyze a golfer’s swing in real-time, breaking it down into the 8 steps of the McLean system. The goal at each step is to stay within McLean’s “corridors of success,” or safety zones in which your club and body are in a good position to strike the ball well. If you remain within those corridors, the system will indicate that you have “passed” that step and you can move onto the next. The system will also analyze and detect “death moves”. A Death move, a term coined by McLean, are actions that will kill your game or positions that are so far from ideal, that you cannot recover to strike the ball well. When the system detects that your position and swing are out of the “corridor of success” or have committed a death move, it automatically alerts the golfer and presents him with video coaching from a “virtual” Jim McLean as well as some appropriate lessons, drills and tips to improve performance.
The whole system is very intuitive, easy-to-use and all information is displayed in a highly organized fashion on the golf simulator touch screen and large display screen. The “8 Step Swing” module is integrated with the HD Golf™ video swing analysis, which is feature-rich and includes a complete set of drawing and editing tools that can also be accessed easily from the simulators touch screen. Features include: freeze frame, side by side comparison, slow motion playback and a professional swing overlay, also designed with Jim McLean. Users can also save swings to a Player Locker to monitor progress over time.
“The ‘8 Step Swing’ module is an exciting addition to our golf simulator product line up. It puts yet another powerful golf instruction and training tool in the hands of our customers and gives them access to a wealth of knowledge developed by one of the best instructors in the world, Jim McLean,” according to HD Golf™ President & CEO Todd Richardson. “The golf simulator is a great environment to learn in, it’s convenient, less intimidating and provides instant detailed feedback after every swing. It’s like having Jim as your own personal coach.”
Jim McLean will be demonstrating the “8 Step Swing” in the High Definition Golf simulator exhibit at the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show, taking place in Orlando, Florida, January 26-28, Booth #2413. About The HD Golf™ Pro Golf Instruction Studio High Definition Golf™ has developed a totally integrated professional golf instruction studio which is easy-to-use, completely modular in design and includes diagnostic tools for detailed shot analysis, video swing analysis, swing dynamics and weight transfer/balance analysis. These professional-grade tools operate seamlessly from a single computer system, providing comprehensive data collection and various simultaneous display options.
The system also generates a variety of performance reports that are customizable and can be uploaded to “Player Lockers” on the web that the student can use to access and review lessons, statistics, video swing files and club fitting information, as well as sign up for tournaments and league play. High Definition Golf™ pioneered computer vision technology for the golf simulator industry, and their systems make more measurements more accurately than any other simulator currently on the market. These include distance (carry and roll), ball speed, club-head speed, efficiency (“smash factor”), launch angle, swing-path (outside/in, inside/out), club head angle at impact, ball position (re: club-head at impact) and ball spin and spin axis.
The simulator will also measure angle of attack, club head acceleration, position of maximum club head speed, club head speed at impact and swing tempo. HD Golf™ is also the only simulator with the unique capability to dynamically measure shaft flex and load factor, allowing club fitters and manufacturers to make precise shaft recommendations.
